I LOVE em...cant do without one around to read. Like "true trash" as they call it, also love Dean Koontz and Stephen King, VC Andrews. Hubby LOVES fantasy/sci-fi! I LOVED Lord of the Rings the movie, but when I tried to read the book after watching it, well, I couldnt get into it. *sigh*

So what do y'all like to read?

Usually, I like books that take me "somewhere else", books with underlying "mystical" messages, books that really make me think/reconsider concepts I've taken for granted... Pretty much anything written by Richard Bach, some Pirsig.

I've got this problem of not finishing books I've started... I'm in the middle of a bunch of books (have been for the past year and a half or so)... Not sure how that happened... got bored in the middle, got a new book and was anxious to start that one so I put the one I was currently reading aside for a little while and kind of forgot to go back... until finally, my eyes started hurting too much and put books on hold for a bit... SO... right now, I'm in the middle of:

Lila - Robert M. Pirsig (I think I'll take this to Montauk with me... I think I was reading this one last when my eyes decided reading it was time for glasses)

The Blessing - Jude Deveraux

Dhalgren - Samuel R. Delaney (big ass book)

Angela's Ashes - Frank McCourt (started this one when the movie first came out... couldn't get through it and I couldn't get through the movie either - zzz)

I mostly read tech manuals. (really, I do!) I don't like to read much for entertainment...it seems like a waste of time to me. I feel like I need to be learning something if I'm going to use my time wisely. Auto repair manuals are my favorite since I'm considered a motor-head. HAHA I haven't found a car that I couldn't fix yet. Every time I go through the pages I learn something else. I had a friend that told me that he was reading the phone book. He said that there wasn't much of a plot, but there was a HUGE cast of characters.

I like to read books with a message, not just straight up fiction... which is why non-fiction is starting to crowd up my bookshelf...
But my fave books with bookmarks still in are:
The Celestine Prophecy - James Redfield
Conversations with God - N D W
I Rigoberta Menchu (the Nobel Peace Prize WInner from Guatemala)
Letters to a Young Poet - Rilke
and I love the book, THe Little Prince by Exupery...
Is anybody else an eclectic reader like me???
