Hi! Liz?!?!?!

Well, it's nice to have you back. Not sure what you mean by "not by choice" though!

As far as the software, ezboard is pretty familiar, so I can understand why you might like it better. But there are a lot of reasons we're not there anymore.

The plan here is to modify this code until it's better than anything else out there, so we have a better future with this software than with ezboard.

If there are things about this you don't like about this software , let's talk about them. There are certainly a few sucky features, and we're already working on fixing them. But I also don't want to stick with something if no one likes it.

Welcome back,

Ed

There's nothing wrong with ezboard, it's very nice software. But things are changing over there, things you may not yet be aware of. I was a member of a special private vip forum over there, and they were talking about some long range changes that aren't really compatible with After Hours.

That doesn't mean that everyone should leave ezboard, but it was a good decision for me...at least for the moment.

Hmmm, you've hit on something that I haven't been able to figure out for a long time. It's not just here, but there are a lot of fonts that don't seem to work through a browser, even if you have them on your machine, and even if they are called correctly by the program.

Maybe it's time to research this a little. Comic sans is one of my favorite fonts, and I've noticed that it doesn't work.

On a related subject, I was going to distribute the Bradley Hand ITC font that I use for the forum names. I was hoping that we could get rid of the graphics if everyone had the font. But that font won't work right either. It may be that the html standard only supports a limited number of fonts at the moment.

It may be possible to do more using style sheets, this is something we'll look into as we improve this software.

Good catch!

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><b>Here's the scoop on fonts and the web:

When you use a font on a web-page, the font has to exist on the browser of the person who is viewing the page. As Ed said, for him to use the font he uses for the forum titles, he would have to assume everyone has that font.

When a font is declared on a web-page, you can select more than one font and separate them with commas just in case they don't have the first one, it trys as many as you list until it finds it. This is imporant because Mac fonts are always different names.

When none of the fonts are found, it makes a guess about the type of font to see if it knows a similar font based on font characteristics (serifs, script, etc).

So Ed, if you are thining of dropping the graphics for the forum names, I would consider a list of common font names, and set a long string of font names that would look good and place your font first, and offer it as a download for those who want it, but the rest in the list could be more common replacements.</b></font>

Joe, I think it has something to do with the way the quotes are handled by the parser.

Fonts with more than one word need to maintain the space in them for the lookup in Windows, and the quotes are needed to preserve the exact string, but I don't think the option handler is picking them up.

<font face="Bradley Hand ITC"><font size=5><i>
Plus, it seems some fonts just don't seem to work on the web, even if you call them correctly. But this one DOES seem to work, so maybe we can add it at some point.</i></font></font>

If you have Bradley Hand on your machine, you should see the above in that font.

Joe, maybe we have to double quote the fonts in the option list, I'll have to check it out later.

Liz,

There are several ways to change your font sizes. Do you have this problem only with your browser, or do you want to change font sizes all over your computer.

Also, which browser do you use, netscape or exploder?
</font>
I also added a couple of new fonts, so there's even more to play with :)

Ok, it's really easy to do in explorer.

From the menu bar, select, VIEW. Scroll down to TEXT SIZE, and then just select a large size than is already selected.

That should do it.

Gee that really hurts my feelings...let me guess it's because I don't kiss your ass or pretend that your a pleasant person to talk to. You do realize it was the insults and negativity that got you banned the first time. Besides I was simply asking why you were so down. I mean you sound as if the whole world is out to get you. And we're not, actually most of us are trying to be very nice to you, but you just got back and you seem determined to alienate people already. Why is that?

Oh nevermind, disregard everything I just said...because you don't talk to me.

If you get them by the balls their hearts and minds will follow.

Hello, gang...

Nobody asked for it...but it's objective:

Sugar,

Sounds to me like you're carrying a lot of anger over something in the past. I don't know what it is, but if it did hurt you, there are ways to get things out and discuss them without jabbing at others. If you are still hurting to the point that you can't control your anger (which on an editable BB must not be REALLY that hard), perhaps you should privately message those involved.

I don't know you, I don't know what happened before, I just know what I've seen here. I'm sorry you're upset at people, but for you to judge all of us here without knowing us is just wrong. I have found some really decent people here...and I like it here...and I'd rather find out for myself if they're not nice, than to have someone throwing snide comments around.

I judge everyone based on my relationship with them, and I expect to be judged in the same way.

Best wishes!

So I say to the Dalai Llama...How about a little something, you know, for the effort,
you know?" And he says, "...On your death bed, you will receive total consciousness."
So I got that going for me, which is nice. -

MM>> In all seriousness, as someone with very intimate first-hand knowledge of mental disorders, I would say, you're probably not too far off...AND there is medication for that.

Perception that the world is out to get you CAN be brought on by chemical imbalances in the brain. The tough part is that before being diagnosed, one usually alienates everyone they are in contact with, either by smothering them, insulting them, or ignoring them which only heightens the feelings of paranoia because people really DON'T want to deal with you.

Sugar>> I know you didn't *ask* for my advice, but maybe it's the mother in me making me give it...but, I really think that a talk with a pastoral counselor (minister, etc...) or with your family physician would do you a world of good.

I've read your other posts, and you seem to be very lonely. Maybe you are a very misinterpreted person. I don't know. But if you do want someone to talk to, your local pastor or reverend I'm sure would be willing to talk. Heck, I don't have much to offer but life experience, and I can't promise anything but if you'd like to chat sometime, IM me at Whattwin on AOL.

Again, best wishes.

<font size=3><font color=blue>pg -- don't leave me, i hate you is the name of one of the best books on borderline personality disorder. i've dealt with mental illness on a professonal level when i was a program coordinator a community mental health center. additionally, one of my exwife's daughters is persistently and seriously mentally ill (and has been for over 15 years). i've been in the trenches. one of the biggest probs is that the meds do work and because of that some people stop being med compliant and have a relapse. sometimes with deadly consequences.</font id=blue></font id=size3>
