I was watching the talk show Leeza and they had the whole hour about dog
fighting. These cowards train these
beautiful puppies to kill and they often fight to the death. It is a digusting
thing because these animals deserve
to be treated better then what they are. It is not the pit bull fault that the
people who own them train them to
kill. I love pit bulls and wish that they could be kept away from the coward dog
fighters of the world. They would
be much better off

Training Animals

It is an amazing thing, how animals can be trained to do atavistic things, isnt
it?

By reward and pain, one can educate a mammal or even perhaps a 'lower' form
of life to react to certain preordained stimuli. I am always amazed at what is
considered to be sport, or reasonable behaviour. On the part of one specific
classification of mammal...

Re: Training Animals

dti: I don't own pit bulls but I wish I did. They are so gentle unless they
are trained to dog fight. For me, it just makes me wonder if the same
people who dogfight would torture there own kids to make them do
what they want. It is amazing how utterly moronic some people can
be and even more moronic how the justice system is when it comes
to dealing with it.

Re: Training Animals

i just have to know if you find anything good at all about the Justice system,
cuz I see a trend.

Talk about inhumane! The whole dogfighting and cockfighting thing is nuts. Of
course I am an animal lover, and would rather see humans maimed than
critters.

Ah, yeh...

Me too.

What does the Justice Wheel have to do with dogfighting, outside of
sometimes bagging the assholes who run dogfights?

Re: Training Animals

Unfortunately the justice system does not recognize animals to be independent
beings, deserving of rights and protection. It seems to me that because of this
lowered status of animals, they go through more abuse and torture than most
people do in this day and age... their status is vaguely reminiscent of the
status given to women, children, and non-whites in history, as well as some
nations in the modern age. That is, not much more than chattel. My hope is
that since the status of women, children, etc. is slowly being corrected
throughout the world, then perhaps the same might happen for animals in the
future.

Well, yeh

Me too actually. Neither of us brought this one up, and it is still a nebulous
enough structure for us to play inside of without ever actually touching the
walls...
